Why Canyoning in the Soča Valley with FAB?

Most canyoning operators in the Soča Valley take you to Sušec — a beautiful canyon, but one that sees 300+ visitors daily. You queue behind tour groups, wait for rappel stations, and share pools with strangers. That's not adventure; that's a theme park.

FAB does it differently. Over 20 years, founder Fabian has scouted, explored, and mapped four canyons in the deepest corners of the Julian Alps that no other operator knows about or visits. When you go canyoning with FAB, you're guaranteed to be the only group in the canyon. No queues. No crowds. Just you, the water, and ancient stone.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is canyoning?

Canyoning (soteskanje in Slovenian) is the sport of exploring canyons using a combination of walking, scrambling, climbing, jumping, swimming, and rappelling down waterfalls. It combines hiking, climbing, and swimming into one adventure.

Why are your canyons different from other operators?

Most canyoning operators in the Soča Valley take groups to Sušec canyon, where 300+ people visit daily. We operate in 4 exclusive locations — Wonderland, Vodljna, Hidden Falls, and Soncek — that no other company visits. You're guaranteed to be the only group in the canyon.

Do I need prior experience?

No previous canyoning experience is needed. Our certified guides teach you everything: rappelling technique, jump assessment, and canyon safety. We tailor the difficulty to your group's comfort level.

What equipment is provided?

Everything: wetsuit, neoprene boots, helmet, harness, rappelling equipment, and life jacket. You just bring swimwear and a towel.

Are all canyons the same price?

Yes — all four canyons are €90 per person. We'll recommend the best canyon for your group based on experience level, weather conditions, and water levels.

How long does a canyoning trip take?

Approximately 3-5 hours depending on the canyon and your group's pace. This includes transport, equipment fitting, safety briefing, and the canyon itself.

Is canyoning safe?

With proper equipment and certified guides, yes. Fabian is a Rescue 3 International Trainer Provider and member of the IRF Education Committee with 20+ years of experience. Safety is never compromised.

When is the best time to go canyoning in the Soča Valley?

The season runs May through September. June-August offers the warmest water temperatures. Early season (May-June) has higher water levels for more dramatic waterfalls. We monitor conditions daily and choose the optimal canyon.
