What is Body Rafting on the Soča?

Forget everything you know about rafting. Body rafting strips away the boat and puts you directly in the water. You swim through rapids, jump off cliff faces into emerald pools, slide down natural waterslides carved from polished white rock, and learn to read the river like a guide. It's not a passive float — it's a skill-based adventure where you become one with the Soča.

We operate in a protected section of the Soča River in the Soča Valley where boats carrying more than two passengers are strictly forbidden. That means no rubber rafts, no tour buses, no crowds — just the sound of rushing water and the stunning turquoise colour that makes the Soča one of Europe's most beautiful rivers. Perfect for adventurous families, couples, and anyone who wants a deeper connection with the water.

Why Body Rafting Instead of Traditional Rafting?

Traditional rafting in the Soča Valley puts you in a rubber boat with 8 strangers for 45 minutes. You paddle when the guide says paddle. Everyone does the same route, the same way. Body rafting is the opposite: you spend 2-3 hours swimming through rapids at your own pace, learning skills that let you connect with the river, not just ride on top of it. Our guides don't just lead — they teach.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is body rafting?

Body rafting is swimming through river rapids using only your body — no boat, no kayak. You wear a wetsuit, helmet, and life jacket, and learn to read the river, navigate currents, and perform self-rescue. It's the most immersive way to experience the Soča River.

Do I need to know how to swim?

Yes, swimming skills are mandatory. You'll be actively swimming through rapids and navigating currents. If you're not a confident swimmer, we recommend starting with a guided introduction.

What's the difference between body rafting and regular rafting?

Traditional rafting puts you in a rubber boat with 6-8 strangers following a guide's commands. Body rafting is you in the water — you ARE the boat. You learn river reading, self-rescue, and navigate at your own pace. It's 2-3 hours vs 45 minutes, and we operate in a protected section where large boats are banned.

What equipment is provided?

Everything: wetsuit, neoprene boots, helmet, life jacket, and certified guides. You just bring swimwear and a towel.

How long does the experience last?

Approximately 2-3 hours on the river, plus transport time. We meet in Kobarid in the Soča Valley and drive to the starting point together.

When is the season?

May through September. The Soča water temperature ranges from 8-14°C — the wetsuit keeps you comfortable.

How many people per group?

Maximum 8 guests per trip. We keep groups small for safety and to maintain the private, boutique experience.
